Searching for a tasty General's Tso's sauce recipe. Tried a couple, but was hoping to find some other suggestions.
I'm supposed to avoid sugar, have no problem using Splenda.
I'm also a student, so it's easier/more affordable for me to use ingredients that are easy to find and keep for awhile (eg, powdered ginger instead of fresh) but for a really good recipe, I'll spend the $!
Thanks!

Hi, This recipe is not mine, I got it off another site but it is DELICIOUS!!!!
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil 3 chopped green onions 1 Tablespoon minced ginger 1 Tablespoon minced garlic 2/3 cup vegetable stock 2 Tablespoons soy sauce 4 Tablespoons sugar red pepper to taste 1 Tablespoon sherry (optional) 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
Heat 3 Tablespoons vegetable oil in pan on medium heat. Add green onions, ginger and garlic, cook for about 2 minutes. Be careful not to burn garlic. Add vegetable stock, soy sauce, sugar, red pepper and vinegar. Mix 2 Tablespoons water with 1 Tablespoon cornstarch and pour into mixture stirring well.
Hey Smash, A couple of questions (hopefully not too personal - forgive if it is).
What's the problem with sugar? Diabetic? Weight?
How thick do you want your Tso Sauce to be? Chinese places make their sauce too thick for my tastes and Sara's recipe seems to use sugar as a bonding agent (to make it stick to the food) as well as to balance the flavors, something Splenda probably won't do.
Let me know (e-mail me at BearFromOBX@Yahoo.com if info is too personal) and we'll try to track something down for you...
