A fresh start always feels good and, often, we do well when we're just starting off on a weight-loss plan. But after a while, calorie counting and meticulous meal planning can get old and when the rate of weight-loss begins to slow, we might lose motivation. But it's at this point when you must recommit and push through this "plateau." Have you successfully seen your way to the other side? What tips can you share with others?
Yes! First of all, i had a week where i not only didn't lose 1 or 2, but according to the scale, gained one. However, i knew it was just impossible to eat less and exercise, and not lose. So i just sulked for a couple hours then forgot about the scale. Well, what do you know but a couple days later i weighed again and was down 3! If you've ever dieted in your life you just accept there are ups and downs. Especially for women. Another thing was i asked myself "What will Nicci say?" and i thought: 1. try measuring your portions, are you SURE you just had 1 portion of that? 2. spread your exercise out a little instead of just in the last 3 days of the week :-) and probably, 3. drink more water so you're less likely to retain. AND KEEP GOING!
Well said, those plateaus translate to challenge! Now that I've been losing weight gradually for a while, I don't get as discouraged. I know what it takes to lose a pound and know that I need to re-commit to exercise, good food choices, accurate measuring and recording to make it happen. I've learned to make a fresh start right away, rather than "next Monday" or first of the month.
The beginning of this challenge has been very difficult for me. I have had so many distractions, events and things getting in the way of me staying focused and really losing weight. When i look atthe scale and see I have only lost 3 lbs in 6 weeks, I ask myself, I need to regroup, refocus and recommit. Now that the summer is over and the events/vacations are done, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I need to set out a goal plan, keep to it and let nothing distract me from reaching my goal!! A wise person once said, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels," and those are the words I am going to live by for the next 6 weeks. I also am going to move more and do more exercise to burn those calories off!
