Okay, I want to make sure I am not the only one here that keeps getting things thrown at them that throw off our eventual goal. I find it soooo hard to stay focused during the summer. In january and february I was driven, focused, motivated, this would be the summer I looked good in a tank top! I lost 15 lbs and was doing great, then the nice weather hit and for some reason I just could not stay focused. I was socializing more, drinking more, eating more, people say the holidays are tough, but those are only one day of the month, I have a problem with spring and summer combined!! I know once fall hits and vacations, outings and parties are over this challenge will get easier for me but right now, I am having a difficult time laying off the cocktails and focusing on the health, which is not like me. Does anyone else feel the same way? Anyone else have struggles with this?

its not cocktails that get me in the summer time, its ice cream and other summer-time treats. i think portion size has been a big savior for me since i've started the diet challenge. nicci said i can still have ice cream, just to be really tough with the portions and its been working. even though i wouldn't have believed it before, a half cup of ice cream goes along way toward satisfying my sweet tooth. maybe you could try to limit yourself to a certain number of drinks at every event? or choose lower cal options like lite beer or liquor drinks with calorie free seltzer instead of juice or soda?

I also found that i was "drinking" a lot of my calories. One thing that worked for me was saying "I'll only have one glass" and that i can have wine 2 or 3 times a week with dinner only. What do you know? I haven't had a glass of wine in a week! I'm working too hard to "drink" away my efforts! Plus i found that when I drink, I lose my resolve and end up eating more.
I'm visiting a vineyard later this week and *I know* I'll be sampling their product. I'll just have to save up calories for it and then watch the food i guess. Come on Labor Day!!!
