Hi. I'm Laura and I recently bought this book while on a trip to the US. I've read through it and am trying to figure out how I'm going to adapt it to my Swiss food choices and measurements.

Hoping to lose 16 lbs.

Hi, my name is Betsy and though I ordered the book right when it came out I didn't start the diet until a couple of weeks ago. I am a veteran of Weight Watchers, and though I was successful at that (9 years ago) I didn't want to spend the money and figured this was a good alternative. So far I have lost 4 pounds and am really enjoying the recipes in the book, and am adding stuff from my archive of magazines. I am hoping that this forum will help substitute for the WW meetings. But I have to say that it is a little hard to find!

Hi My name is Kathy and I am starting the eating well diet tommarow. I am 37 yrs old, mom of 2 boys (7 and 10). I am currently 181 lbs and am looking to lose 40 lbs. I love to cook so I am looking forward to this way of eating that my whole family can eat and not make separate food anymore. I hope others will join as it is inspiring to hear of others success and to support others on their journey.

Hi there. My name is Tracey and I discovered this site today and have ordered the book. I'm really over weight as I have had stomach sugery twice and its hard to get up and around when your stomach hurts all the time. I'm finally feeling better though I do have down days, but I worry about how much weight I've gained in the past year or so. I started with Slimfast, but that is a diet that I just can't stuck to. I'm so happy I found this sight. The meals look really great and I can't wait to try them.

I also have a question. Can anyone explain the BIM to me. I don't understand it at all. The explination didn't make much sense to me lol

Thanks alot

Hi, my name is Ann. I bought the book a while ago--I enjoy the Eating Well magazine and I have tried many of the recipes from the cookbooks and magazines. I am a Weight Watcher veteran and have been successful at losing some weight, but then I stop attending meetings and the weight comes back. I am hoping to be able to motivate myself but I know I need other support. I have never tried the online community world, and am curious to see how this will work. I love the focus in Eating Well on eating in a healthy way and am hoping to be able to stay motivated.

Thanks alot

Hi Tracey,
I wish I had formed some better eating habits for my own family when my kids were small, this can only benefit your son as well as you both.
Over the last few years I have adopted a completely different eating lifestyle, eliminating meat from my diet too although I still eat eggs, non or low fat dairy for the most part, and fish (mostly salmon). I don't buy snacks or sweets except occasionally I will buy a small amount of good quality dark chocolate. I bake my own high fiber breads, mostly whole wheat.
I find high fiber foods are very filling and experiment a lot with different foods I haven't had before. I like beans and eat them a lot, now I am going to try cooking my own instead of using canned to eliminate more sodium. I also like quinoa and it makes a tasty pilaf. I like couscous too. Of course there is a wide variety of tasty fruits, vegetables, and nuts. I admit I do better with the fruits but I keep trying with vegetables and I have favorites. I love and eat natural peanut butter almost daily. I use a good quality olive oil. If a snack attack hits I make popcorn and for this I will use just a smidgen of butter.
I exercise daily.
I have medication controlled HBP myself and was told a few years back I had arthritis although those symptoms have virtually disappeared.
My hope is that my lifestyle changes, the diet and exercise, will eliminate the need for the hypertension medication as it has relieved the arthritis symptoms.
Good luck to you.

Hi-
My name is Helen and i bought the Eating Well Diet book a couple of weeks ago. I'm just beginning to read and work my way through it. I belong to a Curves Fitness Club and have been successful at working out 3x per week out of the last 4 weeks. I lost a couple of lbs and several inches and so am feeling encouraged and motivated by that success and am now ready to go to the next level by slowly starting to address my eating. I bought this book because the "diet" makes so much sense-really more of a shift into eating healthy foods in reasonable amounts than a "diet", although it will be a huge change for me which is why i know i need to be part of a community. I won't be able to do it without support. Thanks for being here for folks. Smiler

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum so if I'm not doing something right please tell me. I have been an avid reader of Eating Well for sometime now, but finally bought the book, I am a former Weight Watcher leader who has now found herself back up on the scale with a whole bunch of health issues such as food allergies, diverticulitis, and elevated sugar levels, so I am hoping to change my behavior and my lifestyle this coming year. I am meeting with a dietian/nutritionist this week to cope with the foods that I can't eat and still help me to get to a healthy weight.

Hello there--

I'm new to this forum but I've been following the EW diet since September.

I'm really happy to report that I've lost 21 lbs thus far. I have 11 to go to meet my goal.

I wanted to share my success with you not only because I'm so excited about it, but in case anyone is looking for a bit of encouragement.

I have found the whole idea of eat less, move more to be both revolutionary and doable. In particular, the act of writing down not only what I eat, but the calorie content as well has been very helpful. Also, as the book suggests, I have found an exercise, in addition to walking, that I really, really enjoy (pilates) which has not only helped me tone up, but inspires me to go out for a walk when I'd rather sit by the fire with a book!

I'm really busy these days, mostly because I have committed to doing exercise before I use the computer, but I'm excited to join up here and see what others are up to, so I'll check back as soon as I can!

Smiler Hi. I'm Alison, 40 years old and 207 pounds. I started the EatingWell Diet 10 days ago and have lost 3 pounds as has my husband. We're doing it together and can support each other.
Our goal is 10% in 6 months which for me is 21 pounds.
Marisol, your progress is really inspiring.

My name is Ramona. Have been on the eating well diet for about 6 weeks. I am loving it!!! I am 5'2", weight 162 lbs. and want to ultimately get down to 135. My favorite aspect of this is I don't feel like I am on a diet. I am changing my lifestyle by the way I look at food. I love food!! I love to cook, eat, etc. The monitoring has made me analyze my relationship with food and where I need to go to get where I want. Thank you EatingWell for this diet!! It is the first time ever that I feel I have control with my relationship with food.
