Life would be so easy if every time we set out to do something, the whole process was smooth-sailing. But in the real world, we're more likely to run into a few bumps in the road. When it comes to losing weight are you going to let a few obstacles cause you to give up all together? No! You're going to figure out the best way to work around them.

What are some of the problems that have popped up in your quest to improve your eating and exercise habits? What are the solutions you've come up with to "fix" them?

I have seemed to have had so many challenges during this challenge that I am not where I was hoping to be by now. First, summer is a tough time for me as I am sure many people have found. The week after I began this challenge my sister was home for the week and we tend to have cocktails and eat a lot. Then I was away, then I had a wedding, then I went away again. It's been a very difficult task to stay on the challenge but I have learned that alcohol for me is my number one enemy!! The empty calories are just not worth it so I have tried to avoid situations where drinking is involved or I have come up with tricks that make me feel as if I am drinking but not having the bad calories. I have not once forgotten that I was on a diet and having that in the back of my mind has helped me overcome many obstacles that have gotten in the way of the ultimate goal. Now that things have settled down and I am more in a routine again, I have managed to lose weight. Not as much as I was hoping but at least I didn't throw my hands up and say, forget it. I just kept brushing myself off and starting over everyday with the ultimate goal of weightloss in my mind. I have learned a lot about myself through this challenge and how easily I am swayed off the path and why it is no wonder I have gained weight over the years. Adding exercise and cutting alcohol has really been a major boost in shedding pounds for me. Thus, one must not let themselves down, if you fall, get right back up and start it all over again! Always remember, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" and isn't that the truth!

I agree with Becca about cocktails getting in the way of your success with this (or any) diet. Also it really messed with my resolve, i gave in too easily to eat things I shouldn't, or eat too much when i had a drink or two. The main obstacle though that i've worked around is eating out at restaurants. Basically if you plan ahead what you are going to order, and how many calories you are looking at, it makes a HUGE difference in staying on track! The first few weeks of the diet was rough for me too, but now i'm really humming along.
