Mangos. My grocer has been offering an affordable selection from S America. They add a little tropical flair to almost any meal. Or, we fire up the grill for tastes from warmer seasons. It might mean cooking in the dark huddled dangerously close to a heat source, but it's worth it.

Orange zest, to bean salads, canned tuna (Italian or Spanish), and olive tapenades; Fennel, for salads, pastas in olive oil and diced finely into couscous; Fresh Cilantro, in rice, over beans, as a garnish in many soups. Room temp. side dishes feel like warmer weather, also, such as roasted beats or asparagus spears.
