I don't buy any functional foods. I suppose there are potential health advantages, but the idea of buying and consuming them runs counter to my attempts to eat more unprocessed foods that are low on the food chain. Perhaps science has helped us by providing products that we could not easily make at home, but my intuition tells me that man has survived for a very long time by eating what Mother Nature provides. My tendency would be to remain open to new products as they emerge, to study them and perhaps find something I feel would be worth the money. However, I'm not too confident that there will be many of those products.

I agree. I am also trying to eat only the most umprosessed foods. It makes more sense to me to just eat foods that are naturely rich in whatever you need.

Functional Foods are just another way for people to avoid taking responsibility for what they eat. Instead of addressing the root of the problem - their penchant for unhealthy substances, devotees of functional foods believe these laboratory creations are easy cure-alls for what ails them.

I agree with the other posters. I spend more time reading labels to avoid additives and would much rather make something from scratch.
