Recipe By :
Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
16 ounces dried split peas
10 cups water -- see notes
1 pound turkey kielbasa -- or smoked sausage
5 cubes chicken bouillon
1 1/2 cups chopped carrot
1 cup celery -- chopped
2 potatoes -- peeled and cubed
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

In a 5 quart slow cooker combine the peas, water, sausage, bouillon, carrot, celery, potatoes, garlic powder, oregano, bay leaves and onion. Allow to cook on high setting for 4 to 5 hours.

Note: If you do not have a slow cooker, combine all ingredients in a large pot and simmer over low heat for 2 to 3 hours, stirring often.

my notes: this is very good and easy. next time don't use 10 cups of water!! start with 7. if it seems to need more, then add it.

from allrecipes: " This is a soup I have come up with myself that everyone in my house will eat. Chop the potatoes real small to help thicken the soup. "

Yes, my slow cooker is one of my favorite kitchen toys. My son and wife bought me one for Christmas last year and us it once a week. My favorite dish is chicken stew.

3 chicken breast, skinless
carrots
string beans frozen or fresh
tomatoes 15oz can with juice
two potatoes, any kind you like
onions
celery
fresh garlic to taste
whole cloves, 3 or 4 pieces

let cook for 4-6 hours.

For those who are watching their weight, this is a very low calorie and tasty meal.

You can also combine or add any other type of veggie of choice to this pot for the same results. A good meal !!
