Hello,

I'm interested in being more adventuresome with whole grains and I'm considering a rice cooker for a 2 adult household. I'm also intrigued by the idea of having Irish oatmeal ready to eat in the morning!

Any recommendations? Some of the rice cookers look like slowcookers and some of them look like bread-makers. I'm not eactly sure why.

Is one easier to clean than another?

I have a rice cooker and I would not part with it. It is the best gadget that I have purchase in kitchen appliances. The rice comes out perfect everytime and brown rice comes out nice and fluffy and not sticky or clumpy. Just follow the instructions 1 cup of rice two cups of water. The rice is done in no time and you done even have to turn off the pot.

Rice cookers are great, although I had a little Cuisinart and it burned the rice on the bottom, so now I have a Japanese one and it's better. Re Irish oats, though, you have to soak them overnight for them to work in the rice cooker, and be sure to put a little butter in otherwise it will boil over.
