I am having a big fall gathering at my house on Sunday. There will be about 16 people there, including 3 children. It is going to be very casual--not sit down or anything--just friends milling around with food and drink, socializing. I think I'm going to be building a firepit in the backyard for folks to hang out around in the crisp evening air.
Any ideas on what I should be making? Right now, the menu is chili (one of the guests and my fiance love to experiment with chilis, so they are in charge of that), hot apple cider, and pumpkin cheesecake (the best ever, brought by one of the guests). I want to make a vegetarian lasagna, and was hoping for a new, wonderful recipe for that, preferably without mushrooms. Any suggestions for that would be welcome. What else should I have to offer? What foods make you think fall?
