I am by no means a political activist, but some food things drive me up a wall and this tops all of them. Today I received an email from the Center for Science in the Public Interest- www.cspinet.com(Nutrition Action Healthletter). They occasionally send an email that I signed up to receive as issues arise in Washington and they have a reply letter written that can be sent directly to your representative and congressman if you choose. It is really simple.
Today's email was about bug juice being used as a red food coloring and the FDA allowing it to be labeled artificial color.Cspinet doesn't even want it used. Many people have allergies to carmine and cochineal extract and it isn't fair to those who eat kosher or vegetarian. Do we really need red color from that source? What about cherries and beets????
I just had to share this as it is so off the wall. Am I crazy?
