The California Senate is taking on chain restaurants. A bill introduced Feb 7 would require chains with 5 outlets in CA or 1 in the state but at least 10 nationwide to post calorie counts for their food in plain view, i.e. on menus or menu boards.
What difference do you think that would make for people? How many people would really think twice? For some, it's not a factor of nutrition, it's a factor of cost. And if one can get 4 burgers for the price of a salad, will it really sway their opinion?

The nutritionist in me hopes so, but I don't think most people "move it" until they have to and sometimes not even then.
The good that it does is that it makes people more aware. They see the calories in print just like they might see the number on the scale. Once you see that number, you can't pretend it doesn't exist.
