This is pretty cool. Shaw's--a grocery store chain owned by Supervalu Inc.--is testing new machines called produce extractors which squeeze water and juice from unsellable produce and shred them into pulp which can be used as free compost as animal foods while cutting their waste costs.
I love this idea! I know co-ops often compost their unusable produce and it's nice to see a large chain tackle our overflowing landfills!
