I just stumbled upon this forum today and figured browsing and posting here might help me reach my goals to lose weight. I have had weight problems all my life, my highest weight was 280. Certainly I am not new to being fed up with my weight. I've been overweight since childhood. I lost 45 pounds a few years ago, regained a bit of it and then was able to maintain. I need to lose that extra weight without gaining it again. I have been doing a diet program which result that I have gain some weight again. Does it exist any other way to lose weight without gaining some of them?? I have learned about a medication called Acomplia on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acomplia but I am a bit reluctant to take it. Can anyone give me more information on this medication?? Is it a diet pill??

Hi and welcome to the board! I don't post a lot here, but I definately love reading people's comments and replies...you can learn a lot from this site and the magazine. Smiler

First off, congrats on taking off those 45 pounds! That's definately something to be proud of!!

As far as losing the rest of the weight you would like to lose, I would stray away from taking Acomplia or going on any other 'diet program' for that matter. Diets tend not to work because they restrict certain foods, and can leave you feeling deprived which can lead to weight gain in the future.

The best tip I can possibly give you is to check out www.mypyramid.gov. I went there, filled out my weight and height and got a pretty good outline of what I should be eating throughout the day. It's balanced and all about moderation (not deprivation...so important to remember!)

Exercise and a balanced eating pattern are the keys to success...I used to be an obsessed calorie counter, but have thankfully moved on from that and have learned to actually enjoy food and use it to work for my body rather then having a love/hate relationship with it. Definately check out the recipes on the site, and feel free to ask all the questions you want...we're all in this 'eating well' thing together...Smiler

Best of luck!
